  • An infusion is taken to treat fever and is considered as an antidote for cobra venom
  • Decoction of the aerial parts is used as an appetiser
  • Principal ingredient of a bitter tonic and febrifuge
  • Leaves with other spices used for relieving gripping and loss of appetite in infants

Bioactivity :

Ethanol extract of leaves: antioxidative, gastroprotective, a-glucosidase and a-amylase inhibitor, antivenom

Clinical:

Safe and efficacious treatment for uncomplicated upper respiratory tract infections; Tablet (Paractin) made of extract from aerial parts (30% andrographolide) is effective against rheumatoid arthritis
