  • Dried and fresh leaves can be used as cardiac stimulant
  • Herbal tea made from leaves increases urine secretion
  • Paste made from crushed leaves and young stems is applied topically for recurrent boils

Leaf powder: hypoglycaemic and hypocholaesterolaemic effects in type 2 diabetes

Clinical:

Effective in lowering fasting blood sugar levels, serum LDL levels, post prandial glucose levels and glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels; Plant is used as an ingredient of polyherbal formulations, “Maharasnadhi quathar” and “Weldehi choornaya” used by Ayurvedic medical practitioners in Sri Lanka for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
