  • Roasted tubers are taken for diseases in the urinary tract and the digestive system
  • Acts as an emollient and a diuretic

Chemical constituents:

Sterol: nymphayol from flowers; O– nitrophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside, sugar-specific lectin (NNTL) from tuber

Bioactivity :

Alcohol extract of flowers: hepatoprotective, antibacterial,  antihyperlipidaemic,  antihyperglycaemic; nymphayol: antidiabetic, antinociceptive, immunomodulatory, antipyretic; NNTL: agglutinative against certain bacteria and antiproliferative
