  • Infusion of young cladodes hastens suppuration of boils, allays heat and inflammation
  • Juice of cladodes is used to treat earache
  • Inner edible parts of the fruit act as a coolant useful for gonorrhoea, beneficial for heart ailments
  • Fruit juice is taken for whooping cough and promotes expectoration
