It’s famed for its ancient Buddhist ruins, including the 5th-century citadel Sigiriya, with its palace and frescoes, and the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Its flavorful cuisine reflects its history as a maritime hub and cultural melting pot.
Sri Lanka is a small tropical island in the Indian Ocean and enjoys one of the most bio-diverse eco systems in the world. The south of the country boasts the tropical rainforest, ‘Sinharaja’ – now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over 1400 varieties of medicinal plants grow in Sri Lanka, of which 42 are endemic to the island.
