Uses in traditional medicine :

  • Bark decoction is prescribed for diarrhoea
  • Leaf infusion is used to wash diseased skin
  • Dried bark powder is applied on the forehead to relieve headaches

Scientific Research

Chemical constituents:

Ecdysteroids: hydroxyecdysone, turkesterone, pinnatasterone, iridoid glucoside: pinnatoside, flavonoids: viscioside, apigenin and luteolin from bark

Bioactivity :

Pinnatoside: antifungal activity against Candida albicans; methanol extract of plant: antioxidative
