Chemical constituents:

Sesquiterpene: Zerumbone, aromatic compounds: p-hydroxybenzaldehyde, vanillin and flavonoid: kaempferol derivatives from rhizome; terpenes: α-humulene, camphene from rhizome essential oil

Bioactivity :

Ethanol extract of rhizome: antibacterial, antifungal, reduces accumilated visceral fat and hyperlipidemic in high fat diet fed rats, nephroprotective in diabetes; essential oil from rhizome: antinociceptive; zerumbone: anti-inflammatory, induce cancer cell apoptosis, inhibits tumour angiogenesis
