- Leaves ground with mustard oil is applied on rheumatic joints
- Crushed young leaves are applied on wounds
- Gum is used to treat diabetes
- Leaves and roots are used to relieve headache
- Stem is used as an astringent in contusions, fever, chest pain and jaundice

Chemical constituents:
Terpenes: limonene, pregeijerene, geijerene and germacrene D from essential oil of leaves and stems; glucuronic acid and its derivatives, galactose, arabinose and proteinaceous material from gum
Bioactivity :
Essential oil of leaves and stems: antimicrobial, mosquito and larvicidal against Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi; ethanol extract of whole plant: hepatoprotective
